2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV Now in Kemptville

2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV Now in Kemptville

Only a few years ago the electric vehicle (EV) market was dominated by only one or two players, and the choice of cars ranged from the inconveniently underpowered to the unaffordably high-end. Today’s EV lineup tells a completely different story, with a huge range of increasingly capable EVs available at ever better prices. One of the most impressive of the latest EV crop is the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV, now available in Kemptville, and here’s why it’s causing such a splash among Canadian EV drivers.

Advanced All-Electric Powertrain and Performance

The Bolt EV is powered by a single electric motor which cranks out 200 horsepower and 266lb-ft of torque, passed to front-wheel drive only. As with all electric vehicles, the torque is almost instantly available, giving a startling amount of acceleration power from a standing start. The Bolt EV is also an excellent highway passer, with the lightest of pedal touches producing a surge of acceleration that nonetheless feels completely under control.

Battery, Charging, and Range

Battery,-Charging,-and-Range

The Chevrolet Bolt EV’s 65kWh lithium-ion battery pack is tucked neatly under the car’s floor, not only increasing the spaciousness of the cabin, but also lowering the centre of gravity for improved handling. However, the main selling point of the battery is the range it provides, with an official estimate of 417km on a single charge. That said, the real-world range depends on driving style, weather conditions, and more, and Bolt EV drivers have reported actual driving distances of more than 500km per charge.

On a 120V domestic supply, charging speed is rated at around 7km an hour, although switching to a 240V Level 2 Charge facility makes overnight charging possible with a time of around seven hours. And lastly, using a fast DC connection while out on the road can boost the range by 160km in around 30 minutes.

Interior Technology

The powertrain isn’t the only area where the Bolt delivers a high amount of advanced technology. The interior is dominated by a large 10.2″ infotainment touchscreen display featuring wireless smartphone integration through both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There’s also a wireless charging pad and a Wi-Fi hotspot facility, all nicely integrated alongside a neat-looking digital dashboard cluster.

Advanced Active Safety and Driver Assist Systems

The 2022 Bolt EV is also equipped with a generous amount of active safety tech, with standard highlights including:

– Forward collision warnings with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking.

– Lane departure warnings and lane keep assist.

– Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts.

– Following distance indicator.

– Automatic high beams.

One final feature which could greatly add to the Bolt EV’s family appeal is the Teen Driver Profile technology, which allows restrictions to be set on driving speeds, audio volume, and more, helping to instill safer habits in younger drivers.
