2022 Chevy Traverse New Look | Kanata

2022 Chevy Traverse New Look | Kanata

The Chevy Traverse is a large and powerful vehicle that straddles the boundary between full-size SUV and passenger minivan. Bringing together ample performance under the hood with spacious comfort in the cabin, it makes an ideal choice for larger families who don’t want to compromise on drive quality. What can you expect from the latest model refresh? Read our 2022 Chevrolet Traverse review to find out.

From the Outside

From-the-Outside

The Chevrolet Traverse isn’t quite as big as the largest SUVs on the market, but it’s definitely in the top tier of the size rankings. However, its spacious dimensions don’t come at the expense of great looks, with the Traverse offering a solid but handsome outline that instills confidence in its safety and capability. The large grille and sleek headlights give the front a confident air, while the chunky rear shows that there’s plenty of passenger and cargo space within.

Under the Hood

Under-the-Hood

Such a large vehicle needs plenty of pep under the hood, and the Traverse definitely lives up to that demand. A 3.6L V6 engine pushes out 310 horsepower and 266lb-ft of torque to guarantee plenty of power in reserve, while a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission deftly transmits the substantial output to your choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The configuration provides excellently smooth performance when the throttle is pushed down, while the powered steering offers precise control at lower speeds.

Fuel Economy

Fuel-Economy

But the Traverse’s size and power don’t mean it’s an old-style gas guzzler. The front-wheel drive model boasts fuel economy figures of 13.8L / 100km in the city and 9.4L on the highway, while the all-wheel drive actually improves on that performance with ratings of 13L (city) and 8.7L (highway), an astonishing achievement for an SUV of this power and heft.

Interior and Cargo

Interior-and-Cargo

As you’d expect from the exterior dimensions, the interior of the Traverse is spacious and seats either seven or eight, with even the third row large enough for adult passengers to travel in comfort. But it’s not only the passenger space that marks the Traverse out. The maximum cargo capacity of 2,780L is among the highest in its class, while even with a full passenger load there’s a generous 651L available behind the third row.

Infotainment and Technology

The base-level Traverse trim offers a 7″ infotainment touchscreen equipped with corded Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Higher trims upgrade the screen size to 8″ and switch to wireless Apple and Android integration, while an 8″ instrument cluster display is also an available option. Add in the multiple USB ports strewn throughout the cabin, and the Traverse is extremely well-equipped for interior tech.

The same generosity applies to safety systems, with standard features including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, and a following distance indicator. Higher trims also offer full adaptive cruise control as an option.

2022 Chevrolet Traverse Review: The Verdict

2022-Chevrolet-Traverse-Review-The-Verdict

Large SUVs don’t come any more comfortable or better equipped than the Chevrolet Traverse. If you’re looking for a market-leading eight-seater option in 2022, this is the model to place at the top of your shortlist.
